Rolla Ag is proud to share results and insights from the 2025 Canola Variety Trials conducted right here in the South Peace Region of Northeast BC. These local trials provide farmers with valuable, field-tested information to guide seed selection and management decisions for the seasons ahead.
Purpose of the Trials
The Canola Variety Trials are designed to:
Evaluate the performance of new and established hybrids under South Peace growing conditions.
Compare yield potential, maturity, standability, and other agronomic traits.
Provide unbiased, locally relevant data to support grower decision-making.
Local Growing Conditions Matter
Every farming region is unique. Soil types, rainfall, disease pressure, and length of growing season all influence crop outcomes. By hosting these trials in the South Peace, farmers get information that truly reflects the challenges and opportunities of farming in our area.
What’s Being Tested
The 2025 trials feature 10 canola hybrids – testing side-by-side allows for accurate comparison and stronger confidence in choosing the right fit for your farm.
Benefits for Producers
Independent Data: Results are gathered under local management practices to ensure unbiased reporting.
Regional Relevance: Instead of relying on generalized Western Canada trial results, growers in the South Peace can make decisions based on conditions similar to their own.
Future Planning: Seeing how hybrids perform in-season gives producers a head start on planning rotations and seed purchases for 2026.
